About Dr. Judy Staveley

Dr. Judy Staveley is a nationally recognized leader in biotechnology, STEMM education, mentorship, and public service. A biotechnology subject matter expert, scientist, educator, author, and executive, she has built a multidisciplinary career connecting scientific innovation with education, national security, workforce development, and community impact.
She is the Founder and CEO of STAVETECH Innovations, Founder of The Platform Magazine LLC, and National President of The Platform Magazine Foundation, Through these organizations, Dr. Staveley leads publishing, educational, scientific, historical, and community initiatives that elevate diverse voices, expand access to opportunity, and support veterans, military families, students, and emerging leaders.
Her professional experience spans biotechnology, molecular biology, infectious disease, public health, scientific research, education, federal programs, and government contracting. She has contributed to initiatives involving medical preparedness, biotechnology program management, supply-chain resilience, diagnostics, scientific workforce development, and national security. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to translating complex science into practical solutions that benefit individuals, organizations, and communities.
Education and mentorship are central to Dr. Staveley’s work. As a former college professor and biotechnology program director, she has helped students connect classroom learning with internships, professional development, and meaningful careers. Her mentoring emphasizes scientific curiosity, leadership, confidence, and real-world application, particularly for young women, underserved students, and military-connected families.
Her dedication to developing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators resulted in five consecutive nominations for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring from 2020 through 2024. Her leadership and volunteer service have also been recognized through multiple Blue Star Families Presidential Volunteer Service Awards and a 2024 Maryland Governor’s Citation honoring her contributions to military families and communities throughout the state.
Dr. Staveley has held leadership roles within national and regional scientific organizations, including the National Association of Academies of Science and the American Junior Academy of Science. She is also a former President of the Washington Academy of Sciences and director of the American Junior Academy of Sciences.
Through these positions, she has helped develop programs that engage young scientists, strengthen scientific networks, and promote greater public understanding of science.
As a retired military spouse with 20 years of experience supporting the Navy and Air Force communities, Dr. Staveley brings a deeply personal understanding of military service, family sacrifice, resilience, and transition to her leadership. This perspective continues to guide her advocacy for veterans, active-duty service members, military spouses, and their families.
